Impact Investments in Africa
Choiseul Africa Summit
July 4th 2024
Investing in Africa has the potential to complement public spending and aid provided by major donors by leveraging private sector capital and expertise, thus strengthening the resilience of African economies and populations against external shocks. Despite advancements in the overall development of the impact investment market, the ecosystem of the support sector remains underdeveloped, and the practice continues to face numerous constraints.
Traditional banks and investors from Switzerland and Europe have historically played a significant role in financing major infrastructure projects in Africa. Increasingly, they are diversifying into social impact investment and microfinance activities.
Given Geneva's strategic position as a financial and investment hub in Europe, and the growing significance of private investment in fostering sustainable and inclusive development in Africa, Choiseul Africa will convene a Forum dedicated to impact investment in Africa on Thursday, July 4th, at the Geneva International Conference Center.
