Choiseul Africa Summit | Industrialisation in West Africa: where do we stand today?
Organised in partnership with CGECI for the third year running, the Choiseul Africa Summit will bring together leading economic decision-makers and experts to discuss the advances, challenges and opportunities associated with industrialisation in West Africa. Since the mid-2000s, industrialisation has returned to the heart of development programmes in Africa, as an essential lever for the structural transformation of economies and the creation of skilled jobs.
As one of the most dynamic regions on the continent, West Africa is brimming with promising opportunities to accelerate industrialisation. To unlock its full potential, a number of levers still need to be activated: mobilising more financing, improving access to competitive energy, strengthening infrastructures and developing local skills. These are all key areas for transformation and inclusive growth.
What conclusions and lessons can be drawn from the industrialisation strategies implemented in recent years? Which sectors are proving to be particularly promising and rich in investment opportunities? What can be done to overcome the current lack of funding for the accelerated industrialisation of West African economies?
